A Mother’s Day in San Francisco

When the Past Meets the Present

Ever since the first day I returned to San Francisco seven years ago, after seven away in Mexico, I have felt in this city the presence of history. At the time, and ever since, I have felt the spirits of times past. I feel this photo captures that sense of that mixing here of past and present in everything about this city.

San Francisco is an interesting city, one is an extremely public face that is shown to visitors of the city by the bay, and one that is the shadow behind which everything else lives.

The Trail Left Behind
The Trail Left Behind

San Franciso is a city that seeks to rectify the past, heal the present and look to a brighter future. Its challenges are those of any city, yet there is clearly at work a rational that seeks to make the world a better place, to do better, to become an ideal city

Many will say it already is, and I’d agree in many, many respects. As someone who is always looking around, sometimes I see things that others miss so I bring it into the mix.
