Witness the Healing is screening this Sunday at Ohlone Days in Coyote Regional Park, where there is an ancient Ohlone village site.
Only, this Sunday, the past is a sliver of what is being offered. Come down to meet community members, and learn about contemporary Ohlone life and experience, while listening and seeing some of the community’s most talented storytellers, dancers and singers, with basket demonstrations and a series of talks designed to illuminate the contemporary Ohlone experience.

My short film Witness the Healing will screen in the Visitors Center in the morning, while, in the afternoon, I will be giving a sneak preview of my newest project with the screening of ‘Honoring the Basket’ a short film that came out of a work-in-progress screening for the de Young Museum’s Native American Programing Advisory Committee in November 2009.
The short film ‘Honoring the Basket’ captures the first-ever Ohlone and Pomo presentations at the de Young, and, the start of a very long collaborative relationship with representatives from both communities on the NAPAC.
This short film ‘Honoring the Basket’ is part of ‘Relations,’ a documentary and installation project opening in March 2011 at the de Young Museum’s Cultural Encounters Program. Learn more at http://flordemielrelationsproject.wordpress.com
Come on down for a special day before fall moves away!
